Why assessment matters

Helping individuals and families move forward with clarity, understanding, and confidence.

We recognize that many people seek an assessment after months—or even years—of unanswered questions. A child may be working hard yet continue to struggle in school. A student may wonder why learning feels more difficult than it seems for others. An adult may be seeking answers about attention, executive functioning, learning, or neurodivergence.

Our role is to provide thoughtful, comprehensive assessments that bring clarity to these questions and offer meaningful recommendations to support success at home, school, work, and in everyday life.

Meet the team

Cindy Powell, M.Ed.

Registered Psychologist #1162

I provide comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological assessments for children, youth, post-secondary students, and adults who are experiencing challenges with learning, attention, focus, or emotional well-being.

Many people seek assessment when they are trying to better understand the challenges they are experiencing—whether that involves learning differences, attention and focus concerns, cognitive challenges, or emotional difficulties such as anxiety or depression. My goal is to help bring clarity to these concerns in a way that feels supportive, respectful, and easy to understand.

An assessment is about more than a diagnosis. It is an opportunity to better understand your unique strengths and needs, to feel heard and validated in your experiences, and to receive practical, individualized recommendations that can support success at school, in post-secondary settings, at work, and in daily life.

As a registered psychologist and owner of an Indigenous-owned practice, I am committed to providing culturally responsive, respectful, and inclusive care. I strive to create an assessment experience where every individual and family feels welcomed, heard, understood, and valued.

My goal is to provide an assessment process that feels thoughtful, transparent, and approachable, helping clients and families leave with clear answers and practical recommendations.

Assessment should leave people with a clearer understanding of themselves—not simply a diagnosis.

As The Powell Collective grows, the practice will expand to include additional psychologists and allied professionals who share the same commitment to ethical, thoughtful, and client-centred care.
